Rachel Norton

engineer and certified energy manager // owner

Rachel Norton has owned and operated a local energy efficiency service business for almost seven years. After graduating from the University of Kentucky, she realized her efforts as a biosystems engineer would be put to work best in her home state of Kentucky, where she feels connected to the grit and determination of the people.

While also working across Eastern Kentucky at a non-profit called Mountain Association, Rachel has been able to grow her business in Lexington. Over the past couple of years she has become a Certified Energy Manager, subcontracted for Kentucky Utilities residential audit program, as well as worked on various projects and programs across the state. She is also currently a fellow at the New Leaders Council for Kentucky, as she values civic engagement, leadership, and growth.

She comes by her work through her family as well. Both she, and her younger brother, followed in their fathers footsteps, becoming engineers. Her father, Jeff Norton, continues to teach her a lot about running lean systems, keeping environments healthy and safe, and also many practical building skills. Her grandfather, Richard Norton, was an architect based out of Chicago for a long time. He was greatly inspired by Frank Loyd Wright, and created beautiful built environments for people to live and work in. The logo for Norton Green and Healthy Buildings, LLC now sports his original, Norton, logo.

All of this has led Rachel to become passionate about her community and a strong steward for the built, and natural, environment. Her mission is to provide fact and math-based information to customers that is easy for them to access, and will help them not only easily lower their energy bills, but live healthier and more comfortable lives.
